An Anniversary Date Night

An anniversary date night. We hardly ever go out as a couple any more. I’m sure that many of you with young children are in the same position. It is expensive to go out, we need childcare and we are so tired from working and looking after the children that a night on the sofa always seems like a better option than going out anyway!

But now that the baby is a little bigger we have been going out a couple of times. The weekend before last we went out for a fabulous dinner with friends – it was so great to be out and socialising without worrying about the children! Last weekend too we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary and headed into Cardiff for a spot of dinner and cinema to celebrate!

We had dinner in La Tasca in the Brewery Quarter. I haven’t been for a couple of years but it used to be quite a regular haunt of ours. I was a little disappointed to find that it has become a little more ‘commercial’ than it used to be and the food wasn’t absolutely amazing like it used to be but we had a nice quick bite to eat there. Dessert was definitely a highlight!

We then went off to Cineworld to see Martian in 3D. Not the most romantic choice granted, but it was really good and seeing a 3D film makes me think it was worth seeing in the cinema! We didn’t get back until long after midnight and were really tired – such old things we are now! But honestly it was lovely to have time together and we are hoping to bring back regular date nights – although not all of them will be this expensive!

Oh how I miss date nights. They are such a rarity now. We used to love going to la tasca on the weekend when they have live salsa and we’ve always loved the cinema. Will have to watch Martian if we can! Glad you had a lovely date x

We haven’t had a date night in so long, it is awful that when we get a babysitter we tend to go out separately with our friends!
I’m glad you had a lovely evening celebrating 🙂

It sounds like a lovely evening together. I used to love La Tasca, tapas is one of my favourite things but I haven’t been for ages. It is so important to take that time to just be together as a couple isn’t it? x

Date nights are so important once you become parents. Sounds like you had a great night out. Sorry it’s got more commercial though. 🙁

Oh what a lovely treat – and Happy Anniversary! We don’t really have any childcare so it’s been a while since we went on a date night but I’m looking forward to the day when the kids are old enough to leave for the evening 🙂

My husband and I worked out that we haven’t had a date night for almost 2 years! Definitely time to make it a priority. Glad you had a nice night out 🙂 x

Looks like you had a great time – my husband and I had a lovely date afternoon a couple of month ago, with a movie and lunch. First we have had since our daughter arrived. Makes them more special because they are so rare!

This sounds like a great date! Congratulations on your anniversary. I want to go on a date with my hubby (to the movies) but he wants to see bond and i have another movie in mind. I do think he will win on this occasion!

Sounds wonderful. My husband and I rarely get out, being away from family really does makes it very tricky and expensive! Looks like you had a great evening though, we really must sort ourselves a night out 🙂
