Last weekend we were invited to a Christmas craft session hosted in the Chapter Arts Centre Cardiff with the wonderful JacDo. JacDo are a welsh company set up to provide educational boxes for children aged 3-7. They offer three different subscription boxes which cost between £9.99 and £14.99 and contain between 3 and 7 activities each month. The activities are based around the national curriculum and encourage learning in all areas. They are bilingual too so perfect for both English and Welsh speakers.
It was pouring it down with rain so it was the perfect afternoon to cosy up with friends and get creating some fab stuff for Christmas. First we made a festive wreath using paint, paper plates and shower puffs. JB loved getting stuck into this and she made a gorgeous wreath which we can hang up with ribbon.
We then made a microwavable rice snowman (or snow baby as JB said hers was!). These were made with socks, rice, ribbon and pens to draw on the details. It was so easy and effective, I’ll try to share a tutorial with you later. Now every evening we pop the snow baby in the microwave for 20 seconds and it is lovely and warm for her to take to bed.
We then made a lovely hand puppet from a sewing kit. Everything we needed was in the kit. JB needed me to help her with the sewing but she stuck all the details on.
We then had time for a coffee and cake before we were given our goody bags and had to rush off to pick up Bean from her ballet class. Bean was delighted that there was a sew-it-yourself felt christmas decoration in the goody bag which her sister kindly gave to her. Bean was more than capable of sewing this herself and loved doing it!
Thanks so much to JacDo for hosting the event and Annie from Mrs Crafty B for organising and inviting us.
