Crafty Tuesday: Patchwork Table Runner

This is a really simple little method of creating a variety of beautiful table runners for all occasions.

Simply cut out some patchwork squares (or buy pre-cut) and arrange them into the pattern of your choice, in the size you want your table runner to be, remembering when measuring to take into account seam allowances.

Sew the squares together as described in my basic patchwork quilt tutorial. Then measure and cut a piece of backing fabric to the same size as the sewn together runner top. Place them right sides together and sew around the two long edges and one short side edge. Turn inside out, turn the seams in on the last edge and sew around the entire edge of the runner, thus closing the gap. Sewing around the whole edge helps keep the fabric together when washing.

Et Voila! A really simple thing to make and it will brighten up your table no end! Make different versions for Christmas, Halloween, Birthdays and parties etc. They also make perfect gifts, especially for Christmas!

If your sewing skills aren’t up to this – I have some made for you to purchase in my online shop!
