Last night the girls were allowed to stay up late past their bedtime for one special reason – Disney on Ice was in Cardiff! To say that they were excited was a real understatement!
We were invited to a little meet and greet before hand with a Disney character and JB was so pleased when Mickey walked in!! We got to have our photo taken and the girls were given a little goody bag with a toy and colouring book in which was lovely.
The show itself was absolutely magical. The dancing was epic, the costumes were fabulous and the atmosphere was electric. Despite it being late the girls were on the edges of their seats. Honestly, little JB’s face was a picture. She absolutely couldn’t believe what she was seeing!
I honestly enjoyed the show just as much! The talent of the skaters was beyond measure and it was great to see how they condensed 4 favourite Disney films into short 20 minute sketches. Watching Sven take to the ice was pretty impressive too! I loved how well it was done – the characters looked exactly as they do in the films.
There were a couple of negatives though. Unfortunately we weren’t given great tickets, and our seats had quite a restricted view as they were right at the back and on the side. We could see the dancing but quite often not the staging. I’d love to have gotten some original photos for this post but I wasn’t able to. If I was buying tickets I’d want to make sure they were in front of the stage.
Another negative was just how expensive the merchandise was. Two snow cones cost me £22. Yes £22 – that is simply ridiculous! Popcorn in a Frozen bag was retailing for £10 and the soft toys were £21. I would avoid it all if you can get away with it – I didn’t unfortunately!
Disney on Ice is on at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff until Sunday 3rd May.
Disclosure – we were given tickets to the show for the purposes of this review.
