At the end of last year my wonderful husband turned 40 - I'm sure that he'll love me sharing that with you! I'll be honest, I have been panicking a lot about turning 40, but I have come to realise that age is just a number, and turning 40 isn't such a big deal.
I wanted to throw my husband a party will all his friends and one of the hardest things was finding somewhere to hold it. Luckily we have the internet now and there are plenty of great resources to help you find the perfect venue. A really easy way to find the perfect venue is to use a site like VenueFinder where you can put in all the things that you are looking for and it will bring up a list based on your requirements. You can search by availability, location, facilities and more. It takes a lot of work out of looking for the perfect venue.
There are lots of different things to consider when looking for the right venue so I thought I would share some tips if any of you are planning something similar.
Location
You need to consider the location. Do you want to have it near to your home or somewhere a bit different? Consider where your guests are coming from and how easy it will be for them to get home. Is the venue convenient for public transport?
Facilities
You need to consider whether you want the venue to put on food or you want to prepare a buffet yourself. Do you want a bar or would you prefer to rent a hall and provide the drinks yourself? You'll need somewhere with toilet facilities and if you are inviting children consider changing facilities and the child friendliness of the venue.
Entertainment
Will you want some sort of entertainment at the party? You might want a band or just some music playing. Check that your venue can accommodate this for you. If you are going to throw an outdoor party, it makes the entertainment easier. As previously discussed in the article there might be some kids among the guests so chances are high that we can not limit the entertainment part to adults only. You might consider having some custom inflatable air dancers that can easily go with your theme and be a fancy way to cheer up your guests from the smallest to the eldest. Taking separately outdoor venues makes a perfect place for bouncy houses for kids to jump and play for hours and for adults making a big wall puzzle together with guests and having a special picture collected at the end will be one of the best past time activities.
Rooms
If you have guests coming from further afield they might find it easier to stay the night. In this case holding the party in a hotel with somewhere they can easily stay might be a good idea.
Decorations
Think about what decorations you will want. Some venues might not need any decorating but if you are going for a church hall or something similar you might need to decorate to jazz it up a little.
Price
The price has to be right of course! Many venues have special offers or will do you a deal if you have them provide the food too. There is a venue for every budget don't worry!
Most of all have fun! I love party planning but it can be stressful so focus on the positives and make it as easy for yourself as you can!
