Last weekend Bean and I headed into London for a couple of days, and while we were there we were lucky enough to be invited to an event for Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons. Now Bean is THE BIGGEST chocolate fan ever, so she was very excited to hear that we were going to be eating lots of chocolate and attending an art class too!
Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons have created an animatronic cow was created to mark Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons Adopt a Cow campaign. It was made in response to research that suggested that city children can be a bit confused when it comes to cows and what they look like. One in 10 believes that a cow is the size of a double decker bus whilst over 10 per cent think that they’re as small as cats. Cadbury is therefore giving city children the chance to get up close and personal with this animatronic cow to find out what these animals actually look like.
Controlled through a mixture of robotics and two highly skilled puppeteers inside a realistic construction of the body of a cow, Buttons took a team of 20 prop specialists over 500 hours to create. Ensuring that it was as authentic as possible, the highly skilled performers studied the moo-vements of real cows for over 300 hours to capture the true likeness for this one-of-a-kind build.
I’ll be honest, the cow looked huge to me in real life, and I guess I am a ‘city mum’ so I don’t see many cows up close! It was very realistic and Bean was a little freaked out to be honest, just like she would be at a real cow so Buttons is definitely true to life!
Bean was given the challenge of drawing a cow at the event. She was helped along by the renowned artist Rose Blake who was simply lovely. She had put together some hints as to how to draw a cow, step by step and she was on hand on the day to impart her knowledgeable advice and encouragement.
Bean being Bean, is a real perfectionist so worked very hard on her drawing until it was perfect and she was very pleased that Rose was impressed with it, and Buttons the cow liked it too!
