learning to smile

Learning to Smile!

It’s a common joke amongst us bloggers that our poor children are subjected to a lot of photographs! You’ll quite often hear me say, “ooh do that again for the camera”, or “stand by that wall – it would make a great background”, “smile”, “look at the camera” and of course the trusty “you can’t open that until I’ve photographed it!”. It must be very frustrating to be the child of a blogger but on the up-side – they’ll have lots of photos of themselves to look back on when they are older unlike me who has only a few from my childhood.

Baby S is now 20 months and while of course he learnt to smile a long time ago, but now he smiles on demand! I can ask him to smile and he will! Granted, it is more of a grimace than a smile but he’ll get there! It’s really funny! He even notices if you have a phone or camera out and if it looks like you are taking a photo he automatically does his smile for the camera! We were in stitches laughing the first time we saw him do it!

So I’m sharing with you all today his first ever ‘staged smile’! Bless him! He obviously had plenty to smile about given he is holding not one but two ice creams! Β His attempt at a big grin is so funny! Hopefully there will be plenty more natural happy smiley photos of him to share but I just couldn’t resist sharing his first fake grin!

  1. Now that’s the way to eat ice creams – one in each hand! So cute. Freya is going through the stage of smiling with her eyes closed and also saying: “No photos!” Like she’s a celeb πŸ™‚ #MySundayPhoto

  2. I’d be smiling that big with two ice creams too!
He is absolutely adorable, and what a fun milestone you’ve reached! I’m still making funny faces and playing peek-a-boo behind the camera to get some smiles haha.

  3. Haha this is so cute and I have both a little girl and a big girl who pull a very similar face when we ask them to smile. In fact my 5 year old is worse, she pulls some really odd expressions if I get my camera out! Luckily we know how to make her do a natural smile pretty quickly- at the moment it normally involves talking about poo. πŸ˜‰ x
