looking for the positive

Looking for the positive

Every Sunday I try to post a photo with a little story attached to it. I don’t feel like I can do that this Sunday. Too much has happened in the last few weeks that is scary and real and has brought politics and sad situations in the world onto our doorstep.

My thoughts about all of these events are muddled. I am saddened, so very saddened that horrors like we saw in Nice this week happen today. I fear for the people of Turkey. I wonder where our position as a little island on our own stands post Brexit. It feels as if the world is now a strange, alien place. We don’t feel safe travelling, and do you know what? I’m not even sure I feel that safe in our own country anymore. The world seems to be full of hatred and I don’t know where it came from or how to get out of it.

Today I saw on Facebook this quote.

It struck a chord with me. Where there is so much hate and violence and unrest, the only thing to do is fight back against it with LOVE. I can’t solve the world’s problems when I can’t even begin to understand them. I don’t want my children to grow up in a world like this, but the only thing I can do is bring them up with love. To teach them right from wrong. To shelter them as much as possible and in the process teach them how to be decent human beings. If we all brought up our children the same what a wonderful world we would live in.

So today I’m looking for the positive and fighting back the only way I know how – with love. Will you join me?

  1. Just came by your blog…
My wife feels exactly as you do.
But do not let it get you down.
Life never really stays the same.
Do something completly silly today, have fun and never carry the worlds woes on your shoulder (they are too many).

    A woman of substance…

She has a heart of gold
A spirit both gentle and bold
    Total dedication for her children
For their welfare, happiness and mould

Their wealth is not her criteria.
Neither their moods, prone to hysteria
    Their paths in life,
    Direction without strife
    These are her aims,
    Her strains and her pains

    Their happiness, spirit and security
These are her aims for their maturity
Her sacrifice of wealth, and health
Are her mark of steadfastness and stealth

A woman of substance, commitment with grace
A spirit who knows her path, measures her place
Her strength is humility as others realise futility
Her soul is blessed, her heart exceeds durability.

Material thing are of no worth, love is her need
Nature and the earth, trust and honest good deed

Blessed is her heart, her soul and blessed am I
To be loved by her, but I do not know why

    For Melodie; from Bruce.

The most humble, self-sacrificing, understanding and forgiving woman I have ever met, or could wish for. She is the essence of humility, love, and light to me. If you knew her, you would just know. People from all walks of life have asked me, “What does she see in you?”
I always answer…”I do not know, but I am eternally grateful that she does!”

  2. Its like the new normal isnt it? Every week a different country being terrorized and every week new bad things in one the news that its so scary to watch the news than those scary movies.

In addition to that (for me at least) are personal struggles.

Its so hard to find the goodness in the world lately. Thanks for sharing this. Real lovely words. #mysundayphoto
