With three children and two parents who work our house is chaos a lot of the time. I feel like I am constantly running in and out on school runs or after school clubs. The baby is constantly making a mess and I feel like I am running around tidying or cleaning all the time that I’m at home.
Recently we’d had a real wake up and decided that we need to make some changes. I don’t want the children to grow up in a chaotic environment so we are making some changes to make our little household a peaceful home.
I’m loving creating a cosy home. I’m forever changing little bits around so that the house works for everyone, so that the kids have a place to play and we have a place to relax. We are also working on having a big tidy up session on a Thursday evening so that on Friday night and over the weekend we can relax without having to do any housework and all clutter is away.
I love burning candles too – I think they create a lovely calming atmosphere and make the house smell gorgeous which helps me to be happy in it!
We are also trying to have less television and more family time. The girls only watch TV for an hour or so at the weekends and half an hour on a week night and that is not every night. This means we have more time together, to talk, play games and have fun.
Spiritually we are a household of faith and we always feel happier spending time together exploring and reinforcing that faith too. It is easy to get out of the habit of things but keeping it up has wonderful benefits for our spiritual wellbeing.
Do you have any other tips for making a peaceful home?
