The Ordinary Moments – After School at the Beach

I have to admit that I love this Sunday linky. Every week I look through my photos to find a special ‘ordinary moment’ to share with you. I don’t take a photo especially as I feel that would defeat the purpose. These photos are always taken on my iPhone and genuinely represent a glimpse into our ordinary family life.

Last week the weather was still glorious – how lucky are we to have had such a fabulous summer and going into September too?! I decided to take an impromptu trip to the beach with the girls after school. The beach is literally 5 minutes from our house and we are so lucky to live so close. We bought ice creams and sat in the sand and watched the sea.

The ice creams melted quickly as it was so warm and the girls were soon covered in sticky sand but we didn’t mind, it was so lovely to get some fresh sea air and have a little treat and enjoy this simple afternoon together. We only spent 45 minutes there but it was a really restorative 45 minutes and we left feeling refreshed, relaxed and happy. A very ordinary beach moment but a well needed one.

It was baby Sprout’s first trip to the beach and I had to document it with a family selfie – a lot harder than you would think with all of us to get in!

  1. Such a gorgeous photo of you all! The weather has been so glorious with us too. It has really extended the Summer and made getting out and about after school much more enjoyable. I hate it when the nights draw in! Xxx #theordinarymoments

  2. I am so jealous at how near you live to the beach- I would absolutely love that but I bet it is easy to take it for granted when you see it every day. What a gorgeous selfie of you all too. Thanks for your kind words about the linky, I love seeing everyone’s ordinary moments and taking the time to write about one myself- I think it is so important to record the little bits and pieces of life…they are genuinely the ones I will want to remember. x

  3. Oh to live that near to the beach – I used to when I was growing up but I moved a really long way inland! It’s a lovely photo of all of you and it sounds like a lovely way to spend a few quiet moments at the end of the day!
