Our Half Term Week

We’ve had an amazing week with the girls off school. We didn’t go anywhere special or do anything particularly exciting but it was so nice to snuggle up together in the mornings and not have to rush around getting ready for school every day.

10 days off…JB was counting – she likes school but she is a home girl, she likes being home with me, and home is where I think she would choose to be if she had a choice. As opposed to Bean – she’d be off with anybody who would take her!!

I didn’t take my big camera anywhere. I’ve started videoing everyday to make a little weekly vlog so that camera was enough to manage along with three little ones! So apologies for the iPhone snaps (although to be fair my new iPhone 6 has a very good camera).

Monday was bank holiday so we had Daddy to keep us company. We visited the Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival and enjoyed some yummy food and watched a fascinating cookery demo. We had a picnic in the park and took a walk through the Physic Gardens. They are one of my favourite places and we must go back soon with my big camera.

On Tuesday we went to the cinema. We went to see Shaun the Sheep. I’m not going to lie to you, it was hard work with Baby Sprout to keep entertained for 90 minutes but the girls loved it.

Then we had lunch in John Lewis as I had the free coffee and cake voucher so treated myself to a scone and hot chocolate. The girls love the lunch boxes so I know they eat well there.

We did a little bit of shopping and headed back – we ended up spending the whole day in Cardiff!

On Wednesday the weather was great so we headed to the local park for a picnic and play in the playground. We took a walk to the beach and stopped in a cafe on the way for ice cream. It was a really simple but lovely day.

Thursday we spent the morning at a family fun day where the girls got to see some unusual animals and have a ride in a fire engine and ambulance! Then we headed over to my regular mother and baby group for the afternoon. We had a visit from Carry Me Close who taught us all about slings and carrying your baby and I bought a beautiful blue ring sling which I hope will transform the school run for me!

On Friday we went to our local Brewers Fayre for breakfast and then headed to a friend’s for a playdate that afternoon before the usual ballet run and play in the park.

On Saturday the girls usual swimming lessons were cancelled due to maintenance in the pool so we took them to a different pool with the baby and their godmother. We had a lovely morning splashing about and we should definitely do more swimming together. Bean then headed off to watch Beauty and the Beast with her Brownie Pack while we did the weekly shop at Aldi.

Sunday saw us head down to the in-laws for the day. We went out for lunch, hung out with the cousins and had a great time. In the evening I then went to my first yoga class in about 5 years which was daunting but great. I can still feel the effects so I think it worked! I’m definitely going to try to stick at it!

Watch the vlog….

  1. That sounds like a perfect week, it reminds me very much of my childhood when we wouldn’t go anywhere in the holidays, but we didn’t need to because our parents made being home so much fun. You’re right, your iPhone camera is great, I’d never have guessed your photos weren’t taken with a more powerful camera! It was so lovely to read this post, and see your beautiful family.

  2. Wow what an amazing family time and memories made during half term. B starts school in September and I often wonder what its going to be like him not home all day with me and then having them at half terms in between. lol Lovely captures on their time off together. Thanks for linking up to Share With Me. #sharewithme
