If you are a regular reader you will know that I am a keen crafter and I particularly love sewing. Bean has grown up watching me make things on my sewing machine and wanted to get in on the action, but it is difficult letting 8 year olds near dangerous sharp needles on a real sewing machine.
She then saw an advert for Sew Cool - a sewing machine for kids, which she then went on to nag and nag for! Luckily for me, I was sent one from House of Fraser to review and Bean was delighted!
The machine is lightweight and compact and the needle is encased in a plastic shield so your little one can't hurt themselves with it. It comes with different kits with which you can make little things like plushies and bags. Bean decided to make a little bag and a plushie.
I read the instructions to her and we worked through it together. It looked a lot more complicated than it was and once she had gotten the hang of it Bean was very capable of doing it mostly independently. The movement of the needle in the felt essentially bonds the fabric together (a bit like needle felting I guess).
Bean loved using this and making things herself and she really felt like she was a mini me with her own sewing machine!
Here are her finished products...(she is giving the plushie to her teacher - aw!)
Disclosure - I was gifted the Sew Cool for the purpose of this review. All opinions are honest and my own.
