In just over 8 weeks I will have my own new little bundle of joy to look after and feed! I am a real supporter of breastfeeding and am in fact a trained peer supporter. I breastfed both my girls and really hope to do the same with this little one.
Breastfeeding came relatively easy to me. I was lucky not to get the sore nipples or mastitis, but I did come up against some common problems and questions and of course turned to the internet and to books for advice.
Breastfeeding Made Easy is a comprehensive book which would be fabulous for new mums (or subsequent mums). It contains lots of description about how to breastfeed your baby with some really handy pictures. It also has really interesting chapters on the mother’s diet, returning to work and complementary feeding. Really usefully there are also sections on prescription medicine, illnesses in the mother and child diseases which can all affect breastfeeding.
This book is really a valuable resource, not just for learning how to breastfeed but for answering some of those questions that come up whilst you are breastfeeding. I’d definitely recommend it as an essential purchase pre-baby and it would also make an ideal gift for an expectant mother you know is planning on breastfeeding.
