Scary times

I’ve been a bit absent from the blog this week – my daughter had a really nasty allergic reaction to something and was unwell for a week. I had a HUGE fright and was so so worried about her.

We have no idea what caused the reaction – she had a pic n mix so maybe it was something in there but her reaction was very severe. She was covered in a bright red rash – and I mean covered, there was no visible skin and her eyes, feet, hands and face swelled up. We took her straight to the out – of – hours doctors who prescribed steroids and Piriton but the rash was persistant and kept coming and going in different places for a whole week nearly. I was frightened out of my wits that I was continuing to give her something that she was allergic to and that was why the rash wasn’t going, but apparently this is typical of these types of reactions.

We have been referred for allergy testing at the hospital, although I’m not sure what they will do considering I have so little idea what caused the reaction in the first place.

I thank God every day that she is ok and am so thankful that her breathing and airways wen’t affected. Now I just need to hope that we can identify what did it to her so that it doesn’t happen again.

  1. How scary for you all, I am pleased she is through it now and I hope when they do the tests they find what it was that caused it
