Upcycled Shutters with Hillary’s Blinds

Upcycled Shutters

A month or so back I was lucky enough to be invited to a Hillary’s Craft event by Joe Blog Bloggers Network. I love these events, as  I love meeting and chatting with other bloggers and Hillary’s are such a great friendly brand.

Sadly at the last minute I couldn’t attend but Hillary’s kindly sent me a bundle of stuff so that I could take part at home (see – I said they were lovely!)

The project was to upcycle one of their shutters. Their shutters are beautiful as it is and one day I’d love to own a home where I can adorn the windows with them, but for now I had lots of fun in getting crafty and upcycling them.

First I took the hinges off the shutters and stuck them together using no more nails.

Then I marked two points on the blinds where I would hang the Kilner Jars and made starter holes and screwed the Kilner Jar hangers in. I could then hang the jars from the shutters. Who doesn’t love a Kilner Jar – I think these look so cute – perfect for putting little bits and bobs in.

I then glued on some little colourful pegs from Belle and Boo, again using no more nails.

This project was honestly so easy and I think it looks really great and it is practical too. I can store the girls arts and crafts bits in the jars and hang their artwork and any other important things I don’t want to lose – like card, spellings lists and my favourite photos!

What do you think?

Thanks so much to Hillarys and Joe Blogs Bloggers Network. If you want to see what everyone who went to the event did with their shutters check it out here. I’m gutted I missed it!
