A Vegetarian Bank Holiday Barbecue with Morrisons #MorrisonsMum

We have a Morrisons store just down the road from us and I am often in there, but it is somewhere I do a ‘top-up’ shop more than a full weekly shop. I’ve found that they have great offers but their everyday prices were not as cheap as other supermarkets. I do love having a browse there though – the stores are so open and breezy and they have great homeware and children’s clothing too.

This bank holiday however I did a full shop there and I was really pleasantly surprised. We had a busy weekend so did our shop on Saturday morning and managed to squeeze in brekkie in the cafe beforehand – which was YUM!

When we were doing our shop I noticed that lots of the prices in Morrisons were cheaper than they were before. Morrisons have lowered the prices of over a thousand products (permanently) and the cheaper prices are clearly marked with yellow stickers. I was really impressed to see the reduced prices – and they were significantly reduced too, not just by a few pence but by enough to really make a difference to the price of our shop.

On the Monday we enjoyed the warm weather with our first barbecue of the year. It was especially nice because we haven’t even been able to get into the garden for so long. Here is what we ate:

Mixed Bean Couscous Salad

200 g couscous

1 vegetable stock cube made into stock with hot water

1 tin Morrisons mixed white bean salad, rinsed

Cover the couscous with the hot vegetable stock until just covered, cover with cling film and leave for five minutes. Fluff up grains with a fork and stir in the mixed bean salad.

Cost per serving: £0.32p

Halloumi & Vegetable Kebabs

Skewer some halloumi chunks onto a pre-soaked wooden kebab stick, along with chopped red pepper and courgette. Cook on the barbecue.

Cost per serving: £0.90

We had fabulous bank holiday fun thanks to Morrisons (and some great barbecuing from Daddy!) It was an added bonus that we got 6p off our fuel as we spent over £40. Brilliant.

Disclosure – we were sent £80 in Morrisons vouchers for the purpose of this review. All opinions are honest and my own.
