This half term we planned to do not much. We needed a little relaxation, we were tight on funds and I had to work (my little shop has gotten very busy lately – which is great of course!)
We started off the week with an inset day on the Friday. Jelly Baby went off to nursery as usual and I took the opportunity to spend some time with my big girl. She chose to go to Techniquest again – she loves that place!
We had a great morning learning lots of new things followed by a Costa strawberry lemonade and a millionaire shortbread!
On Tuesday we went to Shrewsbury for the day to see an old friend. It poured down which was a shame but we still managed to have a lovely (if wet) walk around Shrewsbury, a potch about the shops and the hubby bought me a gorgeous necklace which was a bonus! We then went to his parent’s for dinner and Bean and Jelly Baby had lots of fun playing with trains, playing dressing up and learning to play the ukulele and guitar!
On Friday again Jelly Baby went to nursery and Bean and I enjoyed a cheeky McDonald’s brekkie and trip to the cinema to see Rise of the Guardians.
The rest of the time we chilled out, slept in, didn’t get dressed until 10, played in the garden and generally re-charged ready for the last half term of school.
Best of all…I taught Bean to skip! It is one of those simple childhood activities that we all took for granted but now there is so little time for. Normally we are always on the go, but taking the chance to rest, to chill and to enjoy our home gave us the time to spend in the garden, eating ice cream and learning how to enjoy the simple things in life.
On Sunday I had to work so Daddy took the girls to the beach for a picnic for tea. How lucky are we to live 5 minutes from the beach?!! Bean perfected her skipping, the girls played in the sand and it was an idyllic end to our relaxed ‘staycation’.
