Halloween Cakes, Autumn Knits & New PJ’s – Little Loves #5

It’s been a busy work week and I’m frantically trying to get up to date on work so that I can take a week off for half term. I’ve been meaning to write a Little Loves post for ages so I’m pleased to be able to share this with you this week. Here’s what I’ve been loving lately.

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had time to read much myself. I’ve started to read Gone Girl but haven’t got very far. Bean has been reading Moonrise by Sarah Crossan from Boolino which I was told is a brilliant piece of youth fiction.

She got halfway through it until she found a swear word and then stopped reading bless her! She’s a little young for the target audience (12+) but she had found it really interesting. It’s an easy read because of it’s prose style but it tackles some quite emotional themes. It’s the story of two brothers, one of whom is awaiting execution on death row. The story looks back over his life, their relationship and how he will be remembered in death.  I’ve read a bit of it with her now and I’m transfixed. I don’t know how it ends but I wouldn’t tell you anyway, that’s all in the fun of reading it!

I’m late watching the last episode I know but I’ve finished watching Dr Foster – is it just me that thought that the ending was really sad and a little bit of a let down? I wonder if there will be a series 3? I’m still on track with Liar – Monday’s episode was a biggie! I’m excited to see how it all ends! I’m also still ploughing on with Pretty Little Liars too, it’s always on in the background when I’m working!

I’ve also been watching lots of cooking videos on YouTube – mainly to get some vegan meal inspiration!

I haven’t been listening to much lately either, poor me, I’ve just been so busy! I am planning on listening to Alison Perry’s podcast series though! I’ve heard good things about it.

I’ve been cooking a lot – maybe inspired by all the vegan videos I’ve been watching! I’ve made a lentil sweet potato dahl, a vegan chilli and some halloween inspired things too, including this Halloween graveyard cake and spider cupcakes. We’ve also been making some themed crafts as usual – making a halloween trick or treat bag out of decoupage and a fireworks inspired glittery picture.

I’ve been wearing lots of chunky knits and skinny jeans as well as a new autumn inspired dress I picked up in the sale in Dorothy Perkins. I’ve been rocking my new hair colour too – I had it lightened with some blonde and coppery tones and I love it!

My husband also bought me these lovely new pyjamas for our anniversary, they are flannelette and from The White Company, I’ve literally lived in them ever since I got them!

The kids have also been wearing these cool t-shirts from Illuminated Apparel. You can write on them with the uv pen supplied, another laser or just the light from your mobile phone. My children loved them and played with them for ages and they will be perfect for wearing out at Halloween and Bonfire night.

I’ve been really tired this week, I’m actually writing this from bed. I think I’ve just overworked myself trying to get too much done. I still have lots of deadlines to meet but I’m pretty glad that I can work from home in bed and rest a little at the same time.

How cool are those tops and like you said perfect for Halloween. We are planning to watch Dr Foster when we have finished our latest box set, not seen any of series 1 or 2 so we have plenty to watch #littleloves x

I love the graveyard cake – what a great idea! And Moonrise sounds like a fascinating read, I will have to add it to my list of ‘must reads’.

Hope you are having a slightly more relaxing week. xxx #LittleLoves
