Little Boy absolutely loves dinosaurs. What amazes me is that his speech was a little delayed due to his hearing problems but he could still manage to learn and pronounce some very complicated dinosaur names! I knew when we had his fourth birthday party that we needed to go with a dinosaur theme and it was perfect!
We had the party in a local play centre so we just had to provide the food, cake, tableware and the party bags. I love putting all this together, especially if there is a theme so I got cracking!
The plates and tablewear I bought from Amazon. I got gold bowls to serve food and dark blue and light blue platters too. I bought gold paper cups and light blue plates (the plates I got from Asda after I had an Amazon fail and bought plates that were too small!).
I managed to find dinosaur napkins on Amazon too which Little Boy was delighted with!
I didn't really theme the food except some homemade cupcakes which I put dinosaur toppers on.
The cake I made myself and it is a basic vanilla cake with two layers and a thin layer of jam and buttercream in the middle. This is the recipe that I used. I spray painted some dinosaur toys with gold spray paint, left them to dry and used them as toppers alongside a personalised topper I had made from a seller on Etsy. I was quite pleased with how the cake turned out! I'm not known for making birthday cakes so this was a real achievement!
The party bags we were really gratefully gifted from a wonderful company called Cotton Twist. They sell a huge variety of great party bag goodies and fillers. The ideas are all so unique and so different from your usual party bags, I absolutely loved them. We got the Stegosaurus Spike hunt filler which is a great little activity and comes with a chocolate treat too! We popped them into one of their mint green retro paper party bags and sealed them with a personalised dinosaur sticker.
The party bags were a huge hit with the kiddies and their parents too who were grateful not to receive a huge sweet overload to take home with them! Cotton Twist have teamed up with We Made This Life to offer one of my Instagram followers the chance to win a £50 gift voucher to spend on their site so head over to my Instagram page now to enter.
The finishing touch for the party was of course the birthday boy, complete with his Fourasaurus birthday t-shirt I bought from Etsy. He looked just perfect!
He had a wonderful birthday party and the dinosaur theme was really easy to create and worked so well. I hope this post gives you some inspiration if you are planning a dinosaur themed birthday party of your own!
