May has been a little rough on us to be honest. We have been run off our feet getting into a new routine after Baby N started school at the end of April. The cost of living has been soaring on a pretty daily basis and we've been having work done on the house. Everything was crazy busy and we just needed a break so we headed off on a very last minute trip to Brecon and it was just what we needed.
We stayed at Cantref Adventure farm in one of their holiday cottages with a hot tub and it was really lovely. We had free access to the farm so activities were taken care of and Brecon is such a beautiful area, I think it is very relaxing and refreshing to spend time in the countryside.
Something I have wanted to do for ages is to climb Pen y Fan - the highest mountain in southern Britain. I've never been able to convince everyone to go but seeing as we were staying only 20 minutes away I managed to get them to do it!
It was hard work, especially for little legs and my back is awful at the moment so I needed an afternoon of painkillers and bedrest afterwards but I am so proud of us for doing it! It was a real challenge and achievement and I'm so glad we did it together. I am well aware that I might not be able to do things like this in the future so it was a real "make hay while the sun shines" moment.
