Autumn Is Here…
Yesterday we went for a little walk in the park. We go for a walk in this park quite a lot as it is just around the corner from us, but yesterday we went with a specific purpose – conker collecting! This is a tradition we have every year – we go to the same park to collect conkers from the same tree and we kick the leaves in the park as we walk. It is a really ordinary thing to do, but special to us as it is our little yearly tradition, and one we have done every year in the same park, even before it was just around the corner from our house.
This year we picked the perfect time to go – it had been quite windy last night so lots of conkers had fallen and we came home with quite the haul of conkers!
I also took the time to spend a few minutes with my big camera taking some photos of the children, and also the beautiful autumn scenery which surrounded us there. I really took the time to look at the plants, to notice that hydrangeas are still beautiful when they are dying out, and that the red winter berries were starting to show.
We had to put on coats and boots before we went out at about 4 o’clock in the afternoon as it is quite nippy now. As I wrapped up I was thinking that in the next couple of weeks I am going to have to go winter coat shopping and dig out the hats, scarves and gloves!
I absolutely love Autumn. I love the fresh starts that September brings with the start of the school year. I love the weather getting colder, thicker jumpers coming out, candles going on and cosy evenings in.
I love Halloween and this year I am really excited that we have a porch we can decorate for the occasion!
And of course, after Autumn comes winter which brings with it Christmas – and who doesn’t love Christmas?!
Do you love autumn as much as I do?
