I mentioned a while ago that this year I would be going to my first ‘blogging event’ – Blog Camp UK. Blog Camp is free and hosted by Tots100 and this year was sponsored by Talk Talk.
I wanted to go because I want to really work on my blog during my upcoming maternity leave, I want to use it as a base for practicing writing, for recording the little things that are happening to my family and also to maybe forge more of a career out of freelance writing in the future.
I was quite nervous as I didn’t really know anyone who was going but I didn’t need to be. I bumped into a couple of people who I knew through twitter and someone else I had seen at a show that we had both recently reviewed. I was then introduced to more people through them and also bumped into someone from secondary school who I can’t have seen for more than 15 years. So in all honesty, I didn’t really spend many lonely moments and it has given me more confidence to go to more blogging events in the future.
In terms of the event itself, the talks were great, really informative, and it was nice to put faces to names we see often on Twitter and blogs that I follow. I learnt so much from the talks (and also from chatting to other bloggers) that it will take me a while to digest it all and put some of it into practice!
The food was also fab and there was coffee on tap and even cupcakes! I was so busy that I took hardly any photos though! I did make lots of notes and came away with lots of new blogs to explore and discover.
One of the other highlights of my day was a couple of hours to myself on the way there with a magazine and a hot chocolate and chocolate croissant (utter bliss!) and a good old natter with some new blogging friends on the way back.
