Since we have had the three children, time alone together has been practically non-existant for the hubby and I. Breastfeeding has meant date nights have stopped for now and we are so tired from newborn sleepless nights that we don’t even really get to spend much of the evening together – hubby is usually working on his laptop and I’m asleep on the sofa by 9 – what a glamorous life we lead!
However on Friday my lovely hubby took a surprise day off work. He knows how hard the last couple of weeks have been for me and I was delighted to have an extra pair of hands for the day! We dropped the girls off at school and headed off for brekkie together with just Baby Sprout who was napping in his pushchair.
Brekkie was gorgeous – a continental breakfast for me (I gave the ham to the hubby as I’m veggie) and a cooked for him. I also treated myself to the biggest bucket of Ferrero Rocher hot chocolate you have ever seen! We went to a lovely local cafe where the Christmas decorations are just beautiful and the Christmas music made us feel very festive.
It was so nice to reconnect as a couple and share a lovely hour together – and even when Baby Sprout woke up it was nice to just spend some time together with him too, something we also rarely do. Quite an ordinary morning to some, but a special morning for us. We’ll definitely try to make more time to connect as a couple in 2015.
