Crafty Tuesday – Jelly Roll Quilts

Today I’d like to share with you a new technique I’ve learned which makes the most fabulous  quilts. I have always looked at Jelly Rolls of fabric and thought that they looked awesome but didn’t know what to do with them.

So, one day I googled and found that you can use them to make the most beautiful bedspreads.

So I did! The method is really simple. All you need to do is sew the strips of fabric together into one long strip, cut off a bit at the end, then fold the strip in half and sew all the way along. When you are finished, cut it in half, fold it double again, and do the same thing, over and again until you have a finished. Here is a link to the You Tube tutorial I watched which explains it better!

So far I have made a christmas one and a brightly coloured one. They just need finishing off with sandwiching and binding. I have ordered a halloween Jelly Roll now…this gets addictive!

Next on the list is to make a more traditional jelly roll quilt top. LOVE QUILTING!
