Double Pushchair Ideas

With baby number three on it’s way in a couple of months I have had to start thinking about pushchairs. We already have a Mamas and Papas Sola in black which we loved and we have everything that goes with it – the car seat, the car seat adapter, the carrycot etc. It is in really good condition too so it would make sense just to re-use that. But we have one problem – Jelly Baby is so so lazy and will hardly walk anywhere. She even moans walking from the school gate to the car. I have tried to be firm with her, to make her walk but in all honesty I think her little hyper-flexible legs are just not strong enough yet to walk very far.

With the baby being due in the summer I will want to be taking the kids out of the house if it is nice, for walks to the park and to the beach. Knowing that I will likely be having a c-section means that I won’t be able to carry Jelly Baby at all, and we have come to the decision that a double pushchair may just be the best solution.

So here are the ones we are considering…

The Out n About looks great for taking on walks etc and lies flat for a baby. Similarly does the Baby Jogger City Mini Twin. I prefer the look of the Out n About but prefer the features of the Baby Jogger – two hoods for example is really a necessity. But we would need a separate single pushchair too for school runs etc and we don’t have that much space to store two pushchairs. It would also mean me carrying the pushchairs in and out of the car to swap them over – not ideal.

Then I considered the Bugaboo Donkey as it converts from a single to a double with ease. I tried it out in the shops, I loved it, but it is soooo expensive. Then I found the Baby Jogger City Select which comes in at half the price of the Bugaboo Donkey. It converts from a single to double just as easily but I haven’t been able to try it in a shop yet. This one makes sense financially but I have fallen a little bit in love with the Bugaboo Donkey. It looks great, and is an absolute dream to manoeuvre. I like the side basket too when it is mono mode which will be great for carrying all the stuff that three children accumulate around with me.

The jury is still out. Maybe a second hand Bugaboo Donkey is the way to go. What do you think? I’d love to know your opinions!
