Last weekend we headed off to Dyffryn Gardens in the Vale of Glamorgan for a couple of hours before Messy Church that afternoon.
We had free entry as it was the National Trust's visit free weekend - a great idea to increase visitors to these wonderful historical sites.
The gardens were absolutely beautiful and we could have spent all day there in warmer weather. There are something like 55 acres to walk around so there is something for everyone there.
For the kids there is a really nice playground which you can see from the cafe. Food was expensive in the cafe but nice. Next time I'd take a picnic as there is abundant space to sit out eating it and enjoy nature.
The house has been opened recently for the first time in years and we had a quick look inside. Many areas are not open and there is not a huge amount to see, although the girls did enjoy laying on the beanbags to admire the painted ceilings.
Thoroughly recommended for a relaxing day out in the sun - although if you are interested in the house be aware that there is not much to see yet.
