Now that Baby Sprout is that bit older we have moved him into his tripp trapp highchair for mealtimes. This means he is now sitting at the table with the rest of us and all of a sudden he seems that much more ‘grown up’. He absolutely loves sitting at the table with us – playing with his toys and watching the girls talking, chatting and playing. He is absolutely fascinated by them!
Mealtimes in our house are often stressful – we have two fussy little girls, and with an extra person to juggle feeding it’s not exactly relaxing but these are the very ordinary moments of our day. Baby Sprout will eat heartily whatever we give him and then the girls laugh at him playing with his toys (usually dropping them on the floor or banging them on the table). I’ll probably tell the girls to sit on their chairs at least 20 times and often be in negotiations with both of them as to how much of their dinner they are expected to eat.
Mealtimes are my least favourite part of the day but this week watching the three of them interact together over mealtimes struck something in me. They looked like a real little family, sharing a meal together. Talking, playing and just being together. A little moment of happiness in what I usually consider to be the stress of mealtimes!
