This summer has been a challenge for us as for the first half we were confined to the local vicinity as I couldn't drive after the c-section. I was determined that this wasn't going to stop us having a great summer though and I'd like to share with you my tips for a fun family summer.
- Make a to-do list - Bean wrote a list at the beginning of the summer of things that we could do and our aim is to tick them all off by the end. This meant that Bean had control of what she wanted to do and we had fun choosing each day something to tick off the list.
- Try to keep to a loose routine. My girls get tired and ratty if they are hungry or overtired. While it is nice to be a bit more relaxed over the summer it helps to stick to snack times and a bedtime routine. We sampled some BN biscuits which were a perfect afternoon snack treat along with some fruit such as orange segments or apple.
- Relax. Don't put pressure on yourself to provide activities for every day. Children do really well with the freedom to play on their own and often thrive given a break from the structured activities that take up term time.
- Make the most of the weather. Good weather is rare here so make hay while the sun shines as they say. And on rainy days make the most of snuggling up together and watching a DVD.
Earlier in the summer we were sent some BN biscuits by McVitie's to review and I have to say not only did the girls love them - hubby and I did too! Both flavours went down really well and what I was really impressed with is that they are quite a substantial and sturdy biscuit meaning that they are great for taking on a picnic or for having as a little snack. The girls loved the smiley faces too! They certainly brightened up snack time!
