Back in February the mummy blogging community was rocked with the shock of the sudden cot death of baby Matilda Mae. I didn’t know her mother Jennie personally but as a fellow mother, we all know how horrendous it is to lose a child.
Cot death has always been something that has scared me. And of course my very own baby fell asleep whilst I was still carrying them inside me. Not quite the same, but still a child, lost, not allowed to live the life you had imagined for them.
Today would have been Matilda Mae’s first birthday. I could cry just thinking about it. But there is some solace in the fact that everywhere, bloggers are uniting to keep her memory alive. Her birthday is celebrated, and I know that she will be somewhere, and that she will feel that love.
Between the 11th and 20th of May an online auction will be held by Tots 100 to raise funds for the Lullaby Trust in memory of Matilda Mae. I hope to donate something to the auction and plan on doing some bidding too. I hope that you will too.
Happy Birthday Matilda Mae xx
