In 2016 we were invited to Monster Jam in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. It was our first experience of Monster Jam and we didn’t really know what to expect but we absolutely loved the whole experience! You can read all about it in our blog post .
This May 2018 Monster Jam is coming back to Cardiff and we are so excited to be going to see it again. We loved all the action, the huge cars and the electric atmosphere. We know the drivers and the cars now and I’m really excited to see some of them back in action. Also this year Little Boy is that much older and his absolute favourite thing is smashing and crashing cars so I know that he is going to absolutely love every second of it!
If you haven’t heard of or experienced Monster Jam before you are missing out! Champion drivers push themselves to their limits in both championship racing and gravity- defying freestyle competitions to fuel fans with an adrenaline rush like never before. Combining high-octane, spontaneous stunts with the ultimate off-road motorsport competition, fans will witness the unexpected and the unforgettable.
Twelve of the world’s most famous Monster Jam trucks, including Monster Jam World Finals® champions Grave Digger® and Max-DTM, will be roaring into Cardiff to bring thrill and excitement like no other show out there. You won’t forget the first time you saw a Monster Jam truck defy gravity!
These are some of the amazing facts about Monster Jam trucks…
- Monster Jam trucks stand 12-feet tall and 10-feet wide, sitting atop 66-inch-tall tires and weighing a minimum of 12,000 pounds.
- 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower is generated by these larger than life trucks that are capable of speeds of up to 70 miles per hour.
- They can fly up to 125 to 130 feet in distance and up to 35 feet in the air.
There is also a “Pit Party” before the event where fans can meet their favourite drivers and get up close to the Monster Jam trucks. I’d recommend wearing trainers or shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy because the pit party is on the actual muddy track!
Another tip is to take ear defenders for you and especially your little ones who might be sensitive to the loud noise.
We made a video of our day at Monster Jam last year, you can watch it below, we honestly had so much fun, we can’t wait to be going again.
