Today we are talking about Christmas traditions. Since we have had the children, Christmas traditions have become really important. We love to make this time of year really special for them. I thought I would share a few of our Christmas traditions with you.

The Tree – Every year we get a real christmas tree, usually from Ikea. We get a bigger one every year, struggle to get it in the car and the kids help Daddy decorate it while I direct the operation! I like to choose a different colour theme every year which infuriates the hubby!

The Elf – Starting last year we have taken part in the Elf on the Shelf tradition. This year JB is SO into it, she gets to excited every morning to see what Elfie has been up to. I think she’ll be heartbroken when he disappears!

The Theatre – We try to get to the theatre every festive season. This year we have seen The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and The Princess and The Pea and the girls are seeing the panto Aladdin this week.

Christmas Eve – We try to make Christmas Eve really special. We have a special breakfast at home and give the girls their christmas eve baskets. We then spend the morning together before heading out for lunch when the girls will read their letters from Santa telling them they are on the good list! We then head to our local church for a crib service and go home feeling christmassy. The girls go to bed nice and early excited for the next day.

Christmas Day – The girls wake up nice and early obviously! They open their stocking presents and are sent back to bed until a sensible time when we all pile downstairs to open presents. We eat chocolate croissants and I have a nice bath while the hubby cooks dinner. We drink christmas cocktails and dress up in our new clothes and the children play with their new toys. We then sit down for dinner and spend the afternoon and evening watching films and eating chocolate!
