Whilst we were in Sussex I thought I would take the hubby and kids to Brighton. I used to go there all the time when I was younger and lived in Surrey but I haven’t been for years. The weather was cold but we had the best day…
Firstly we parked in Regency Square Car Park which was a great little car park – it cost us £10 for the day, was nice and quiet and was only a short 10 min walk away from the Pier. Do beware though if you are going with kids as it has no lift.
We were heading first to Brighton Royal Pavillion but realised when we got out of the car that Bean had forgotten to bring something with her, can you guess what…
So, after a stop off at the shops to buy a new coat we headed to the Pavillion. Entrance was not cheap at £26.90 for a family of four but the experience was well worth it. We spent a good couple of hours in there admiring the decor and architecture and Bean enthusiastically listened away to her audio tour guide and learnt so much more from this than she would have without it. We stopped for hot chocolate and cake in the tea rooms in there where the staff we wonderful and the hot chocolate and cake was delicious!
Following that we headed to Brighton Museum and Art Gallery. Admission was free but apart from a small exhibition on Ancient Egypt not much there really grabbed me or Bean so our visit was quick. They did have a BIBA exhibition but as you had to pay to get into that section we gave it a miss.
We of course had a little wander around the Lanes and mooched around the shops. We found a fantastic little place to have lunch – Redeli – where I had a grilled halloumi and mango chutney sandwich and Jelly Baby woke from her little snooze to a slice of yummy chocolate cake.
Our trip was complete once we had visited the famous Pier. Most of it was closed due to it being out of season and the weather being so bad but it was a nice little walk along it (hubby had never been on a pier so long) and Bean was amazed by the stony beach!
All in all it was a really great day and we slept really well that night from all the sea air and walking we did!
