Snoopy & Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie

What I love about half term is taking the time to snuggle up with the girls and watch a movie, especially if the weather is bad. They love choosing a snack and grabbing some blankets and we all sit on the sofa and spend some quality time together.

They have been looking forward all week to watching the new Snoopy & Charlie Brown movie – The Peanuts Movie. They had wanted to see it in the cinema but it was too difficult to take them with Baby S too so they have waited patiently for the DVD release – which is today incidentally!

Charlie Brown and Snoopy remind me so much of my childhood. I used to watch the cartoons and remember how they used to make me laugh and feel sad all at the same time – Charlie Brown is a great character, he can convey so much feeling.

I won’t spoil the film for you but I will tell you a little about the plot. You will see Snoopy battle his nemesis The Red Baron and Charlie Brown try to win the affections of the Little Red-Headed Girl. What I loved about this film is that nothing has changed in the 25 years since I used to watch the cartoons. The characters look and act the same and they still work wonderfully today.

The girls (aged 9 and 5) were transfixed by the film and sat wonderfully through the whole thing. They really enjoyed it and I am sure it is a film that they are going to watch again and again.

I grew up with Snoopy and Charlie Brown, but I have to say I was disappointed with the new film. It just didn’t live up to its predecessor I feel.

Awww I’ve never watched this movie but I’ve heard such good things about it. It is great that you and your girls take time to just snuggle up and watch a movie. I know now that I’m older, it is those sort of memories with my mum that I cherish the most.
