There’s nothing I like better to do with my girls than head into town to watch a movie. It’s a real family treat and they love watching the new releases on the big screen, sitting in comfort, munching on snacks!
We were recently invited to a showing of Paddington 2 on the Superscreen at Cardiff’s Cineworld and we were all really excited, not only to see what the film had to offer, but to experience the film on the amazing Cineworld Superscreen. We hadn’t been to the Superscreen before so we were really looking forward to seeing all the action of Paddington 2 on the wall to wall screen!
We booked tickets online which was really easy and a code was emailed to us that we could show to the usher at Cineworld meaning no need to queue to buy tickets, and no queuing to pick them up either. It’s only something small but it made the whole experience so much smoother, no one likes queuing with children and worrying if you are going to miss the start of the film! It meant that we had more time to enjoy together and less time spent stressing about getting there on time and buying tickets.
When we entered the screen we were amazed at how big the seating area was – with huge comfy seats with plenty of legroom. The girls were delighted with their super seats and settled down with their drinks and snacks to enjoy the trailers. It was so nice for me to have a comfy seat with plenty of space for our bags and coats. I was so cosy, it was definitely the nicest cinema setting I have been to. Normally I find myself shifting in my seat for the whole movie, but this time I was so comfortable. The girls loved the big seats – they must have felt like thrones to them!!
As you can see the screen isn’t called a Superscreen for nothing – it is huge! You’ll get none of the old fashioned curtains here – the screen literally goes from wall to wall and is as high as the ceiling. There are no black lines at the top and bottom of the screen – the film stretches the whole way across the screen. We were sat near the back and we had a brilliant view. The screen is slightly curved which must help it to be seen clearly from all angles and the picture was as sharp as a knife.
Cineworld’s Superscreen is not only huge, it also has state of the art projection meaning the film was so clear it almost felt like we were part of the action. Bean (10) said it gave it an almost 3D effect and I’d have to agree. The combination of the brilliant screen technology and the multidimensional sound (powered by 27 amplifiers) meant that the experience was like no other cinema experience we have had before.
Honestly, I sat there as the film played and it felt like I was right there in London, with Paddington experiencing the adventure for myself! We all loved the film – we had a few tears from Little Miss J as Paddington looked like he might be in trouble and Bean was on the edge of her seat at points! I’ll confess that I shed a tear or two at the end, it was so moving! I’m sure that the brilliant screen made the best of the movie and made it that little bit more special.
Cardiff’s Cineworld is brilliantly located right next to the St David’s 2 Shopping Centre which means we easily parked and headed in.
Hubby and I like to visit in the evenings too because there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby – perfect for a dinner and film date night! It’s also a great location for a night out with friends too, there’s even seating outside the Superscreen where you can stop and enjoy your drinks and snacks and have a chat before and after the film.
I’d highly recommend watching Paddington 2 but that’s not all that you can watch at Cineworld nationwide this winter. There are some amazing films coming out, including Thor: Ragnarok, Murder on the Orient Express, Justice League and Star Wars. Cineworld Superscreen would be the ideal place to watch them as it would really make the most of the action and effects that you can expect to see in these films. The Superscreen makes it a truly immersive experience that you won’t forget. If 3D movies are your thing, try the Cineworld Superscreen in 3D – they have dual projectors which give a brighter 3D experience. I bet it’s amazing.
You can book tickets for Paddington 2 and check out what else is showing in Superscreen online here.
I have my eye on Murder on the Orient Express for our next date night, and we’ll definitely be heading to Cineworld’s Superscreen to watch it. What film are you hoping to see next?
