On the last weekend of the holidays we took a trip into Cardiff to see the giant spider web – Tape which was installed in Bute Park for the month of August.
The first installation of it’s kind in the UK Tape is the brainchild of Numen / For Use andย it’s aim is to connect people with nature. The structure is strung from the trees and made entirely of sticky tape. The ingenious part is that you can actually crawl inside it! It certainly does give you a different perspective on nature!
I found the concept utterly fascinating and as the project was only here for a limited time (and was free!) we had to check it out.
We queued for about an hour and we were allowed to crawl around the inside twice which took about 5 minutes. I couldn’t go in myself as my back was really painful that day but the hubby took the three kiddies in and they absolutely loved it! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not sure the baby had much of a clue what was happening but my eight year old thought it was absolutely brilliant.
For me, I took a wonderful stroll around the beautiful Bute Park. I haven’t ever been to Bute Park really before and it is huge! So many beautiful things to see there, I’ll definitely be taking the kids there again.
We stopped for afternoon tea afterwards in Pettigrew Tea Rooms and it definitely lived up to the hype.
A truly fabulous day!
We still haven’t managed to go here. Looks so unique and different. Love pettigrew tea rooms too x
This looks like so much fun! Do you know how long it is there?
I love Pettigrew ๐
I think it has finished now Leanne ๐ But of course Pettigrew is still there if that’s any consolation! It was yum!
Woah! That looks so cool! An hour wait is a long time but with it bing limited edition it’s great that you can say you’ve done it (at least the children can!):) x
It looks absolutely stunning and any day rounded off with cake wins me over x
This sounds so brilliant! I’m sorry your back hurt so you couldn’t ge tin, but glad the kids enjoyed the experience.
What a beautiful setting. I love the concept of the tape but not sure if I would have crawled inside. The cake looked delicious, my favourite kind.
What a great installation, I love this kind of thing.
Wow what an amazing idea.. we are drivig through Cardif tomorrow, I wonder if it is still there?
Such a unique idea for a day out. Truly memorable. Any day finished with cake is a good day x
This look great, and it looks like you had amazing weather. Oh and that cake!
Looks like a lovely place to visit and that cake looks delicious! x
Wow, I’ve never heard of or seen anything like that before. Looks interesting. And the park looks like a lovely place to walk in.
Eeek, that would creep me out as I hate spiders though! A ver different kind of climbing frame though
Wow, this is so cool, I’ve never seen anything like this before!!!
The park looked absolutely lovely, glad you all had a fun day X X
The place looks so pretty and I’ll definitely go visit if I’m ever near! x
My goodness that cake it looks delicious and a wonderful sounding day out all around! x
This sounds like such an interesting day out – fab that you managed to get to go and see it in the limited time its there. That cake looks delicious too!
I lived in England for seven years and never went to Wales. I can’t believe it. It looks like such a beautiful place. I will move back to England in the future and visiting Wales is very high on my to do list.
This looks like a lovely park! You seem to have much nicer parks in Cardiff than up here in North Wales. Our are all small and there’s not much to do at all! x
This looked so cool – my children would have loved it. I would love the tearooms ๐ Kaz x
Still haven’t been. Keep meaning too but will need the Hubby to be there as there’s no way I’m braving that with my back! I’ll be fine in the teashop though.
