We love crafts in our house so when we were challenged by Galt Toys to create a mini masterpiece the girls jumped at the chance!
We printed off the blank template from the Galt website (available here) and I showed the girls the original Van Gogh masterpiece for inspiration and left them to it.
They had great fun, and while of course Jelly Baby didn’t really understand the ‘brief’ I was surprised by how much Bean got from looking at the original work and she tried to re-create what she saw as mist.
I think this idea is really great as both girls (ages 3 and 7) were able to take part in the same activity but take different things from it. It also exposed them to some real ‘art’ to take inspiration from which is something that I know they do in nursery and school but we haven’t really done at home before.
If you take a look at the Galt Toys blog they have step-by-step instructions on how to make your own mini masterpiece or you can go a bit more freestyle as we did here. Either way the kids will have great fun!
Disclosure – we were gifted a kids art tub for the purposes of this review. All opinions are honest and my own.
