Recipe: Homemade Breakfast Waffles

Ingredients

  • 170 g plain flour
  • Pinch salt
  • 30 g caster sugar
  • 290 ml Milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 egg whites
  • 55 g melted butter

Instructions

  1. Weigh all the dry ingredients into a bowl and add the vanilla, milk and melted butter. Whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks but are not stiff and fold in.
  2. Heat up your waffle maker and spray with low cal butter / oil spray. Pour the waffle batter into the maker and follow instructions to cook waffles.
  3. These waffles are also very yummy made with wholemeal plain flour.
  4. If you make too many you can freeze them between sheets of baking paper and reheat them in the toaster for another breakfast or for a sweet treat with ice cream for desert.
