    30 Weeks Pregnant

    May 9, 2014 by Ali · Leave a Comment

Wow - 30 weeks pregnant seems like such a milestone. ¾ of the way there...

This week many of the usual later pregnancy niggles have caught up with me. I can't sit down for long because it makes my SPD flare up. I can't stand up for long as my legs start to hurt. My fingers are starting to swell. I have the WORST heartburn / reflux and now have to stay permanently upright or else I am liable to vomit. Seriously, bending over even causes me to feel sick. I am still very tired, something which has plagued me throughout this pregnancy.

On the plus side, the baby's movements are really obvious now. When they are awake and kicking it is amazing and wonderful to see my tummy move. Bean can really see it and feel it and as she is that little bit older than your average sibling it is so lovely that she is able to understand more and bond with this baby.

This week I have realised that I have 9 weeks to go if I am to have a c-section at 39 weeks. This is really motivating me to get going and do some baby shopping. I have a massive list of things to do and buy for the baby and I feel like I am running out of time. With two children already and work and life to contend with I haven't had time to think about knitting anything, although I would have loved to. I guess that will have to wait until he or she is here.

My mum took me shopping last weekend and treated me to some nursing tops and a nursing dress, a couple of new maternity tops and some other essential bits and bobs. I also bought a steriliser and some bottles for when I want to give the baby some expressed milk. There is still so much that I need to get and soon I have to start thinking about packing my hospital bag.

I still feel really nervous about buying too much, but at the same time know that I need to be prepared now. In the next couple of weeks I'll be sorting out the nursery which will make all this seem all the more real. We are going to have a new ickle baby - I still can't really believe it!
