Reading with your child is a way for them to learn how to read, and it will make them want to read on their own. In addition to this, building a love of reading from the very beginning by reading with your child will make it more likely that they will continue reading as they get older.

It is important because it teaches your child vocabulary and comprehension skills, which they can use in school and everyday life. Reading is an excellent way for parents to bond with their children. It's a time where they can sit down and spend quality time together while reading a story or retelling one from memory. This fosters trust and reinforces family values as well as teaches them how to read themselves one day.

Since reading with your child is one of the most important things that a parent can do for their child, it's important to understand why it's crucial. However, parents often struggle to get their children to read or maintain that love of reading as they grow older. So here are a few ways to encourage your children to read:

Make Reading Part Of Your Every Day Routine

You may think that you don't have time to read with your child, but you can just set aside 10 minutes each day or night before bedtime and do activities together such as looking at books, looking at pictures, or reading together.

The best thing about this is that it doesn't have to be an hour-long ordeal where kids are bored out of their minds or fighting tooth and nail the entire time because you're forcing them into something they don't want

    Read With Them

Reading with your children is more than just reading. It is an opportunity to build a close connection. It can be done any time, anywhere. Reading with your children can start as soon as they are born. Some parents will read to their child in the womb or after birth, while others will wait until their baby reaches a certain age.

Parents should make it part of their daily routine and make it fun for them, encouraging children to love reading from a young age. They might also want to take their child to the library or bookstore and pick out a book they would like to read by themselves.

Pick a Book at the Right Level

When choosing a book to read, parents need to ensure that it is at the right reading level for their child. But this doesn't only mean the letter and word level. It also means making sure that the book's content is appropriate for your child's age group.

This way, kids are more likely to enjoy reading and continue to do so in the future.

    Play Word Games

Playing word games can encourage reading in many ways. It can make reading more interactive and fun for kids. It also helps to improve their vocabulary and spelling, which is why they love reading more.

If you want to know how to teach vocabulary to children, word games can be a fun way of doing so. With rewards, it can also be an engaging way to encourage reading.

    Play Theme Games

The only thing they need to stay interested in reading for some children is finding a good book that interests them. It might be helpful for other children to seek out games that they can play that is built around books they love. This could include trivia games where players use their book knowledge to answer questions or card games where they need to build a deck from cards with words from the story.

The themed game will help your child feel like they are in charge of their own learning and make it more fun for them. Some theme games can help your child to pick a book for themselves. Using word prompts, they can find a book associated with that prompt for them to read.

You can also do the same with pictures, or in some cases, you can play games that allow them to take part in activities that are chosen by the book their reading. For example, you can choose activities based on what the character is doing in the book, such as what the character is eating, visiting a place similar to where the character visits, or an activity that the character is doing.

This could be a great way to make reading a fun and interactive experience.
