    8 Weeks Pregnant

    Aug 4, 2018 by Ali · 2 Comments

Well, the first few weeks of this pregnancy have certainly dragged! I'm still so nervous that everything is ok and I'm still very much pretending that this isn't all happening yet, which has been hard this week as I've had so much going on!

Symptoms wise I've felt really sick, probably the sickest I've felt in any pregnancy so far. I've been really off my food, just unable to eat what is in front of me. I'm craving savoury, salty foods like anything with gravy and crisps and hummus! I've also taken to eating coco pops when I can't stomach anything else! I'm loving ice lollies, I think because I'm struggling to drink a lot.

This week I've even struggled to swallow my pregnancy vitamins, they would just come straight back up. I've made sure that I continue taking my folic acid because they are really small tablets so I can swallow them more easily.

I've also been really tired, falling asleep early and struggling to get up in the mornings too. By early evening all I want to do is lie on the sofa which is difficult with three other children to deal with!

I had a follow up appointment with my doctor about my subclinical hypothyroidism. I was given the same dose of levothyroxine to continue with and told that they wouldn't update my blood tests yet but to ask the midwife about the referral to a specialist.

I saw the midwife this week for my booking appointment. She went through everything with me and booked me in for my scan and blood tests. The scan is booked for when I am 11 weeks so not long to wait! I think when I've had that scan I'll feel happier about the safety of the pregnancy.

Although I do have some good news, I booked to go for a private scan at the beginning of this week and it was really good! The baby measured 8 weeks and 1 day which is two days ahead of my dates so I was happy with that. Everything looked good and there was a nice strong fast heartbeat. I did feel a lot re-assured after the scan but now I'm second guessing every symptom again! I think there's no getting around that when you have suffered a missed miscarriage before.

I have a little bump, I'm definitely starting to feel like my clothes are getting tighter, but nowhere near enough to dig out the maternity gear yet!

So fingers crossed everything is progressing well, I'll update you again after my next scan!
