This year we are all really lucky and have some fabulous advent calendars that are that little more special than your run of the mill chocolate one. I did feel a bit sad for the hubby though as he didn't have a special advent calendar. A quick google search for mens advent calendars brought up very little and the only thing that appealed to me was a beer advent calendar but it was too pricey at £75!
Well, you know me, I thought I'd just make one!! Asda had beer and ale on offer with four bottles for £5 the beer only cost me £30. I don't know much about beer and ale and I just picked a different bottle for each day - I hope he likes them!
I used a laundry basket wrapped in Christmas paper for the box. We wrapped the individual bottles in brown paper and tied white tags on them with the numbers written on. I had a little helper for that and she also made a great sign to stick on the front of the wrapped basket.
We then jumbled up the bottles so he has to hunt for the correct number every day.
We were so excited for Daddy to come home from work to see what we made. There's something so special about a homemade gift.
The diy beer advent calendar went down a treat with the hubby and I think he was really touched we took the time to make him something special. He can't wait for the 1st to open his first one!
