Unless you know that your child has specific needs, many parents will purchase products if they like their looks or if they're a good price without considering the baby product materials.

Steve explained that both of these materials have benefits that some parents may not be aware of.
Ensuring your babies skin is not harmed, and they are kept comfortable at all times is vital. For this reason, Joyto uses organic cotton as it "does not use pesticides and chemicals in the whole process from seed to product," Steve told us. "It also does not contain any toxic and harmful substances, making it suitable for the delicate skin of babies and young children." With pure natural bamboo fibre, Joyto uses it because it "is more hygroscopic than cotton and can keep moisture away from the skin. Pure natural bamboo fibre is inherently capable of preventing various strange odours, skin allergies and skin irritation problems. It also has a good human temperature regulation effect on the skin, so during the hot and humid seasons, bamboo fibre can help babies feel cool."
So, considering just these two examples and the benefits they can have to babies, is enough done to make parents aware of the importance of the materials used in baby products? In Steve's view, "No, not enough is done to make parents aware as for some, they do not know that there are better alternatives available as sometimes price point is, unfortunately, more important."
The importance of materials goes further than clothing to protect baby's skin. Steve explained that Joyto's "baby bamboo tableware uses 100% bamboo material." There are several key reasons why this is important. Firstly, is the lifespan of the product. "A set of tableware materials that use, for example, Plastic/PLA/melamine, have a lifespan of about three months," Steve said. The problem with this is not just that you may have to replace the tableware due to damage but also "it is easy to release toxins from the tableware after being scratched with just three months of use." No parent wants their young child to be consuming toxins from plastic at such a critical stage of their life, so by using bamboo which does not have the same problems as plastic and has a longer lifespan these issues are avoided.
With all that being said, what can parents do and what should they look out for when choosing products for their babies and children? The simple answer is that parents should pay particular notice to the materials that products are made from. Once parents know about issues such as toxin release from plastic tableware, it's easier to look for alternatives.
Due to how busy our everyday lives are, we often don't look for an alternative to the norm until there is a problem. Also, with the amount of choice online and in stores and with the strength of branding and marketing campaigns run by businesses today, key information about product materials can be overlooked, and it can feel overwhelming to identify precisely what products are best for your children. However, just taking a little bit of time to do some research into this area can have real benefits going forward when it comes to your child.
