Carpet in the Living Room: How to Make the Right Choice

Carpet in the Living Room: How to Make the Right Choice

The living room is one of the rooms in which the carpet is almost certainly required. Without it, the room looks uninhabited, uncomfortable and cold. And if you want to bring such a welcome note of warmth and coziness to your home, professional carpet cleaning experts and carpet manufacturers will be happy to share valuable tips.

Set the Overall Tone: Size and Colour

First of all, you need to decide on the dimensions.

If you need to give the room a general "mood", there is nothing better than carpet rugs that turn the floor into a soft and warm surface.

Models that completely cover the entire surface, from wall to wall, are best suited for this purpose. However, if your living room is complex in shape or you just want to leave "bare" areas - it would be better to choose large round or square rugs that occupy at least ⅔ of the surface.

However, everything is individual. Therefore, do not be lazy and look through magazines and websites on interior design, on the pages of which there are also carpets: photos will be an excellent help, allowing you to figure out how a similar solution will look with you.

If you want to highlight any part of the room (for example, a recreation area), it is better to choose rugs up to 2 meters in size.

Choose the Perfect Colour of the Carpet

In terms of colour selection, everything is simple: the larger the model, the more subdued the shades should be. And on the contrary, the smaller - the more freedom you can give yourself when choosing (up to acid-bright tones in the case of buying small "point" rugs).

The fact is that the large sizes of carpets attract attention, so you need to be very careful what colour and pattern would the carpet have.

At the same time, small dimensions combine perfectly with bright and rich colours. The effect of splashes on a white canvas is created, diluting the uniformity of the interior.

But again it is worth warning: each case is unique. If you decide to buy a carpet in the living room, photos from relevant sites and specialised sources will help you choose the best option for you.

Material: a Matter of Price, Practicality and Durability

When choosing a carpet in the living room, you must remember that this room is the most walkable in the house. So, the flooring material must be as wear-resistant as possible. Also, you need to devote at least an hour every week for carpet cleaning. Professional carpet cleaning procedures are incredibly helpful when it comes to restoring the great condition of your carpet in the living room.

Natural fibre carpets are extremely luxurious and fancy pieces of decoration. However, they also have their negative sides - firstly, the price of such a carpet in the living room will be quite high. And secondly, you will have to devote more time to caring for the product.

If you want to save a little or just want to experiment with the interior, then you can do with acrylic or polypropylene.

The first option is suitable if you want to get all the benefits of natural wool without having to spend an extra half an hour a week cleaning. But note: over time, the fibers are electrified, so we recommend that you keep an anti-static spray at home.

The second option is more budgetary and short-lived. However, if you saw polypropylene carpets in the photo, you will understand why we recommend them. Smooth brilliant pile and rich shades make the material ideal for zoning large rooms.
