Disney fans, get ready to tumble back down the rabbit hole: a brand-new installment in the hit Descendants franchise has officially been greenlit for Disney+. This fifth chapter picks up right where 2024's Descendants: The Rise of Red left off, and will once again follow the vibrant, music-driven adventures of Disney's most beloved heroes, villains, and their teenage offspring.

A Return to Wonderland
With the working title still under wraps, the sequel promises to shine a spotlight on Princesses Red (played by Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe (Malia Baker) - the daring daughters of the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella, respectively. After their time-travel escapades in The Rise of Red, the duo must face the ripple effects of rewriting history. Fans will remember the ominous warning at the close of the previous film: "There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time." In this next chapter, those consequences come to life, mainly in present-day Wonderland.
Familiar Faces and New Descendants
Cantrall and Baker are not the only ones returning for the fun. Leonardo Nam reprises his role as Maddox Hatter, while newcomers Liamani Segura (as Red's sister Pink), Brendon Tremblay (as Max Hatter), Alexandro Byrd (as Luis Madrigal), and Kiara Romero (as Hazel Hook) join the ever-growing roster of Disney kids. The expanding cast ensures fresh storylines, new friendships, and, of course, the possibility of more high-stakes mischief.
A Celebrated Creative Team
Kimmy Gatewood (The Baby-sitter's Club, Girls5eva) will direct from a script by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna (Sneakerella) alongside Dan Frey and Ru Sommer (Descendants: The Rise of Red). Returning to oversee the film's production as executive producers are Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh, with Gatewood also serving as co-producer. Fans of the franchise's unforgettable dance numbers can look forward to another round of show-stopping choreography from EmmyⓇ Award winner Emilio Dosal (Wicked, Sneakerella).
Building on a Musical Legacy
Since its launch, Descendants has grown into a global phenomenon. The first two movie soundtracks have achieved gold certification, while the third and fourth installments topped Billboard's Soundtrack and Children's Album charts. Beyond the screen, more than 57 tie-in books have been published - including a four-time New York Times bestselling series. This summer's "Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour" will further celebrate the music and magic of these popular franchises across North America.
