Five colours in 2024 that will add calm to your living space

    May 29, 2024 · Modified: Aug 10, 2024 by Ali · Leave a Comment

Making our home as peaceful an environment as possible is so important for our mental health. The space we live in should provide us with a sanctuary, where we can escape the stresses and strains of daily life, and focus on our overall wellbeing.

More and more people are struggling than ever before, with the likes of anxiety, depression and addiction all spiking as a result of things like work, the economic climate, relationships and more. And as more of us find ourselves entering the door of a rehab clinic or counselling services, ensuring our home is one that can provide us with an escape is also key.

The decor of a home can play a big part in that, with the right colours providing us with a calming and stress relieving base to build from. So if you're looking to make your home a more soothing environment, here are five colours for you to consider.

    Sage Green

Steadily growing in popularity, sage green is an earthy colour that promotes a sense of nature and tranquility in the home. It's ideal for almost any room, whether it be the kitchen, bathroom or living rooms and bedrooms and paired with natural materials it offers a truly calming vibe to a room.

Using it on walls, or on furniture as an accent colour is a great idea that can add a really refreshing feeling to a home.

    Soft Blue

Reminiscent of clear skies and calm seas, soft blue is a colour that oozes relaxation and serenity. Perfect for bathrooms and bedrooms especially, it can create an openness and calmness to a room.

Perfect for pairing with white or other neutral tones, you'll get a light, clean and airy feel from soft blues, which are perfect for promoting positive mental health.

    Warm Beige

A timeless classic that will never go out of style, beiges provide a subtle warmth and versatility to a space that can operate as a perfect backdrop. The colour creates a comforting environment that doesn't overwhelm the senses and you can just ease into.

Perfect for living rooms and bedrooms especially, it provides a blank canvas that can be combined with other cosy colours to further enhance the soothing ambience in a home.

    Lavender

Lavender is a colour that effortlessly brings a sense of calm and relaxation to any space. Its gentle, muted purple hue is associated with tranquillity and mindfulness. Lavender is perfect for bedrooms and meditation spaces, where its calming properties can help reduce stress and promote restful sleep. This colour pairs beautifully with soft greys and whites, creating a harmonious and balanced look. Incorporate lavender through wall paint, cushions, or decorative accessories to introduce a touch of serenity to your home.

    Light Grey

Versatile and sophisticated, light greys are great calming colours as they create a balanced and cohesive look. This creates a serene and elegant environment whether you're wanting to use it on walls or floors. It's a colour that works for any room, particularly bedrooms and bathrooms, pairing well with both cool and warm tones to suit the wants and needs of a room.
