Facial cleansing is a central part of an effective skincare routine. Cleansing is one of the best ways you can take good care of your skin because it removes dirt and toxins. Together with toning and moisturizing, cleansing is one of the three things that you should do to your skin regularly. Let's find out how to use a facial cleanser, and why you should:

    Why Use a Facial Cleanser?

Throughout the day your skin collects a variety of bacteria, pollutants, and toxins from the environment around you. Now before you panic, our skin is a very smart organ that prevents harmful elements from entering our bodies. It does this by using its semi-permeable membrane, which acts as a filter, allowing good things in and keeping bad things out.

However, if you don't take care of your skin, or if you don't have enough nutrients and minerals in your diet, this semi-permeable membrane can become compromised. That's why it's essential to ensure that you cleanse, in order to reduce the chances of infection or disease.

What Type Of Cleansers To Use

Now that you know how to use a facial cleanser let's talk about how to choose one that's good for your skin. There are a variety of facial cleansers on the market, ranging from simple bar soaps to sophisticated electronic devices. But with so many choices, it can be difficult to know which one is right for you. When choosing a facial cleanser, it's important to consider your skin type and what you're trying to achieve. For example, if you have sensitive skin, you'll want to avoid cleansers that are too harsh or abrasive. And if you're looking to fight acne, you'll want a cleanser that contains ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide

When it comes to natural ingredients, goat milk soap and aloe vera soap are two of the best options. Goat milk soap is gentle and hydrating, making it ideal for people with sensitive skin. And aloe vera soap is packed with antioxidants and nutrients that can help to improve the appearance of your skin. So whether you're looking for a gentle cleansing solution or a powerful acne-fighting tool, goat milk soap and aloe vera soap are two great options to consider.

How to Use a Facial Cleanser

Skincare isn't just about looking beautiful or maintaining a youthful appearance; it's essential for your health too. Now that you know why it's important to cleanse, let's find out how to use a facial cleanser:

    Use Clean Hands

    cleanser2

The purpose of cleansing is to rid your skin of dirt, so you must ensure you do so with clean hands. It's counter-productive to use fancy cleansing products on your face with hands that have dirt under your fingernails and countless trapped bacteria. Thus, make sure you wash your hands before washing your face. It's common sense, really.

Make Sure Your Face is Wet

Firstly use a makeup remover to remove waterproof mascara and more stubborn make up. Then make sure that you never cleanse a dry face, as it will become irritated and the product does not have the correct environment for maximum effectiveness. Most cleansing products are specially designed to be used on skin that has been moistened first. So, before applying the product, wet your hands and splash lukewarm water on your face. The temperature of the water is very important too, as we'll soon find out.

    Avoid Very Hot Water

The idea that hot water will make your skin cleaner is a common misconception. Skincare isn't the same as washing dishes! Yes, hotter water will remove more bacteria, but it will also damage your skin. This also applies to taking showers. Make sure any water you use on your skin is nice and warm, but never scalding. This is because really hot water strips your skin of the good stuff including essential oils, leaving it dry and more prone to cracking or irritation.

    Warm Water is Good

    cleanser3

You might wake up in the morning and want to cleanse with really cold water in order to feel refreshed for the day, but you should actually cleanse with warm water instead. Warm water won't damage your skin like scalding water, and it also helps to boost the power of your cleansing formula. This is because using warm water will open up your pores, allowing your skin to absorb the nutrients in your cleanser. It will also boost the antibacterial power of your cleansing routine.

    Cold Water to Finish

But yes, cold water does come in handy for the final step. Once you've followed the instructions of your specific cleanser (some might say leave on for five minutes, for example), rinse the product off using cold water. Yes, cold water. Why? Well, you know how warm water opens up your pores? Cold water does the opposite.

Therefore, the most effective way of cleansing is to start with warm water to open up your pores, cleanse your face, allowing the product to be absorbed, and then essentially seal your skin during the rinse phase using cold water. This adds an extra layer of defense for your skin during the day.

    Be Gentle

The most important aspect of skincare is how careful you are with your skin. When cleansing your face, be super gentle when applying any product. It's a myth that scrubbing hard will make your skin cleaner, as the product itself is what cleans your skin. Treating your skin gently ensures that it becomes stronger and more resilient, while being rough will only add to potential future skin issues.

    Over to you

It's clear that facial cleansing is something you should incorporate into your skincare routine. It doesn't have to be a time-consuming process, either. Once you find a product you like it simply takes a minute or two to wash your face with it.

Always make sure to follow the instructions on the packaging to ensure you get the most from the product and you know properly how to use facial cleanser. Now that you know how to use a facial wash and why, all that's left is to ensure you do it regularly.
