There's nothing worse than having your beautiful carpet wrecked by stains! It's so frustrating when you've spent hours trying to make your living room look great. It only takes one small stain to ruin the look of your whole carpet. Sure you could try and tactically position the coffee table and hope for the best, or you could take a look at some of these stain- savvy hacks!

    A bit of vinegar

When it comes to natural cleaning solutions, vinegar always saves the day! If you're looking to remove a light stain, try mixing some white vinegar with a little salt then rubbing it on that pesky stain. (Let the salt dissolve before you apply and don't use anything other than white vinegar as this could make it worse!) Once the applied mixture is dry on the carpet, take a vacuum to the area and tad-da!

If you have a stain that's tougher and more ground-into your carpet try vinegar and cornstarch. Mix the two together until you've made a paste and then rub the mixture into the stain. With this one is a good idea to leave it for a day or two (before vacuuming) to get the best results. If you have any coffee stains, just dilute your white vinegar with water and blot the area with a cloth.

    Make your own

It's simple to make your own carpet cleaner from a few bits and bobs you'll have already around the house. Try mixing about 40ml of laundry detergent with 10ml of fabric softener. Next add about a gallon of hot water and 2/4 of a cup of all-purpose cleaner. You can put all the ingredients together in a bucket and then give your carpets a really good scrub. Always vacuum to finish, and you'll find clean and soft carpets that look brand new.

    Baking soda

Baking soda is another life saver when it comes to natural cleaning. It's particularly good to remove oil-based stains from carpets. Apply baking soda to the stain and then wait for the baking soda to absorb the stain and dry up. Next, you can vacuum the carpet, and you'll find that the stain has faded. Now you just need to dab the stain with baking soda a little more to get rid of the final remnants. There are so many natural cleaning solutions out there these days. All you have to do is get shopping and organize your cleaning regime!

    Cleaning your rugs

For cleaning your rugs, you can try a rug shampoo or a mild dish detergent. Remember though, whether it's a rug or carpet always do a colour test first. Some cleaners will remove colour (even if they say that they won't on the bottle)! If you don't want the chance of ruining your carpets and rugs, its best to hire in the professionals. Devine Rug Care offer some high-quality cleaning solutions that will leave your rugs looking amazing in no time.

Some of us enjoy cleaning and find it relaxing. Many more of us just want the job done fast. For carpets and rugs that look as plush as the day you bought them, hiring in some help isn't a bad move!
