Travelling for Christmas on a Private Plane: What To Prepare

    Oct 13, 2023 · Modified: Mar 4, 2025 by Ali · Leave a Comment

Particular travel experiences stay with you for a lifetime, but many people do not see the journey as one of these experiences. That's where flying via private jet comes in, especially if you are coming home for Christmas and want to feel the magic from the moment your journey begins. Even if you have flown many times before, flying via private jet is different than flying commercially, and even those who are used to the comforts of first class will experience something entirely different. If you're choosing to fly this way for your return to family at Christmas, here is everything you need to prepare and expect.

Can You Fly on Christmas Day?

The biggest gift of all each Christmas is the presence of your nearest and dearest, especially if you haven't seen them for long periods of time. If you really want to make an impact and increase the surprise, arriving at your family home on Christmas Day will create a feeling like no other. But can you fly via private jet charter on Christmas Day? Well, the short answer is yes! International, domestic, and private jets operate 24/7, 365 days a year, regardless of public holidays. This being said, as with other industries, choosing to fly private on Christmas Day will be at a limited capacity, which in some cases can raise the price of the ticket. Even with this limited service, if you choose to fly via private charter flight, you have the chance to curate your own experience to be as luxurious and exclusive as you like. Match your plans perfectly to every detail, including the route and the final transfer. Imagine the joy on your family's faces if you time your arrival right on Christmas morning, just in time for them to start opening their presents; with a private charter flight, dreams like this can come true.

    Arrive on Time

One of the best things that comes with flying via private jet charter is that travellers are not required to arrive hours before their flight is set to depart. Many people who are used to flying commercially have to factor in the waiting times required when planning a trip to the airport, as events such as passing security can sometimes take longer than originally expected. When flying privately, the experience is much simpler. When arriving at an airport of significant size, try to arrive 15 minutes before the departure. However, if the airport is on a smaller side, you may only need to arrive five minutes before your plane is due to depart. Flying home for Christmas with this convenience makes choosing to fly via private jet that much easier, don't you think?

    Don't Overpack

Overpacking is one of the biggest drawbacks that people seem to have, especially when flying home for the festive season. The UK's colder weather may make you feel like you should bring all of your cosiest items along with presents for loved ones and other seasonal treats, but be mindful that private jets are usually smaller aircraft, which means they will have less overall space, and you have other passengers to consider. If you're feeling unsure about how much you can bring on your travels, ask the company ahead of time; they will happily provide you with all of the information you need. Always try to pack light.

    Dress for the Occasion

If you are flying on a private jet, you don't need to wear a suit and tie. An experience like this does not need to be a formal occasion. If you're flying for the holidays, such as coming home for Christmas, dress in a way that is appropriate for your trip. This being said, always remember to dress smartly and put some effort into choosing what you're going to wear. In other circumstances - such as travelling for business, even in the holiday season - you should be a little more careful in how you choose to dress. You always want to feel comfortable on a journey like this, but if you're representing your place of work, you never want to look as if you're disrespecting the company or seem to be trying to offend your team/manager/boss.

    Bring Your Furry Friend Onboard

You would never want your furry friend to miss out on the festive fun, and by flying private, you can bring them along with you and take them to the skies. Making this same journey on a commercial flight can be a traumatic experience for your pet as they are usually confined to the cargo hold rather than receiving soothing affection from their owner. This is where charter flights come into play. Pets can come aboard with you, making the entire experience much more comfortable for them, too. The rules differ from country to country regarding the transport of domestic pets, but some companies and organisations can help make the process as simple as possible. Our pets are as important members of the family as any other, and they should be there with you on the big day to celebrate the festivities.

    Conclusion

Your holiday should begin as soon as you take to the skies, not when you land at your destination. See your family in style this Christmas and remove the stress that comes with flying on a commercial flight. If you follow these steps, you're sure to fit in with the crew and fellow passengers, making your journey as pleasant as can be for everyone involved.
