Visiting the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls as a Family

    niagara falls

If you want to treat your kids to a truly memorable holiday, a visit to the Niagara Falls is a really good option. The waterfalls themselves are impressive. Plus, as you can see from the ideas we have put together for you, there is plenty for families to do and see in the area.

Stay in a high-end hotel with a view of the waterfalls

A good starting point is booking yourself a Fallsview room at somewhere like the Niagara Falls Marriott . They have family rooms with twin queen-sized beds that offer a panoramic view of the waterfalls. Your kids will never forget staying in a room like that. If you travel at the right time, they can watch a light show over the Niagara Falls from your hotel room. An event that gives you the chance to take some fantastic family vacation snaps.

    Take a boat trip

Whilst the view of the falls is impressive from above, it is important not to leave things at that. There are lots of other ways to view the waterfalls all of which are worth doing. You can only truly appreciate how big and powerful they are by getting up close. Something you can do if you take one of the Hornblower Niagara Cruise boat tours. During your trip, you and your kids will be taken almost right up to the base of the waterfall. Another experience your children are sure to remember throughout their lives.

Let off steam at the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark

If your family enjoys swimming and waterslides, head to the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark. The tipping bucket and large wave pool are sure to delight. There is also a splash park for toddlers and preschoolers to enjoy. The Great Wolf Lodge waterpark is good too.

    Enjoy a Vegas-style magic show

Kids love Greg Frewin's Wild Magic show. The tricks he performs with his tigers are amazing. Your children are sure to want to have their photo taken with one of the tigers.

Enjoy a meal with a view of the falls

There are a few restaurants in the area that offer a view of the waterfalls while you dine. Understandably, a lot of them are geared towards fine dining. But, don't let that put you off because virtually all of these restaurants cater very well for families. So, your meal will not necessarily cost a fortune. The Queen Victoria Place Restaurant and Elements on the Falls are two potential options.

Also, don't forget that your Fallsview hotel will also cater well for children. So, if you want you can eat there. However, if you would like more choice, I suggest that you click here to read some family restaurant reviews for the Niagara Falls area.

The above is just a taste of what the area has to offer families. Your hotel will be able to advise you and the official Canadian Niagara Falls website is another excellent source of information. Other suggestions include visiting the butterfly conservatory and the huge Canadian Midway game arcade.
