Why You Should Choose Engineered Wood Flooring

We are looking into replacing the flooring in our living room. It is a job that we wanted to do before lockdown, but we are only just able to get on with it now so I have been spending lots of time researching flooring types and colours to find what I really want. We want something that will last and we don't mind paying a little more to have quality flooring that will stand up to a family and not need replacing after a few years. That's why we've decided to go for engineered wood flooring and I thought I would share with you why you should choose engineered wood flooring for your home.

    Practicality

I really like hardwood flooring in a family home. It is much easier to clean and if you have a family this is really important! No stressing about spills and stains on a carpet anymore, and if they tread mud in on their shoes it is easy to clean up. I like the fact that you can use a disinfecting cleaner on it too, perfect for when you have pets or are worried about germs. I think carpets must hold so much dirt!

Engineered wood flooring consists of a plank with a top layer of real wood veneer which is then usually oiled. You can sand down and refinish the floor if need be (the amount of times depends upon the thickness of the veneer). Most domestic floors won't need this done until after 10-15 years of use so you can see that you really get longevity out of it.

Engineered wood flooring is also resistant to moisture and temperature changes, meaning it is suitable for all rooms in your home, and works well with underfloor heating too.

    Aesthetics

I really like the look of engineered wood flooring too. It has that quality look of real wood flooring and you can choose to have it in pretty much any colour you like, from light wood to dark wood, whatever fits with the room decor and look that you are going for. It also comes in different designs so you can go for the traditional floorboard look or something more eye catching and unique like parquet. Flooring 365 has so many options on their website, it is like delving into the rabbit hole! I've found myself wanting to redo the floors in the rest of the house too!

    Price

Engineered wood flooring isn't the cheapest flooring option but it isn't the most expensive either. It's considerably cheaper than solid real wood flooring and looks pretty much identical. If you have a large area of flooring the saving can really add up. I think it strikes a real balance between a cost effective flooring solution for a family home, and a quality product that will last well.

    Easy to fit

There are different types of engineered wood floor that you can buy, most notably tongue and groove and Click Lok, both of which are easy enough for a competent DIY'er to install themselves, which is great if you are looking to save money on fitting costs. It is also reasonably quick for a professional to fit too, so if you did want to hire someone to fit it for you, it shouldn't cost the earth.

Did you find this post on why you should choose engineered wood flooring useful? It would be great if you could share it with your friends on social media or Pin it for later...
